The Curse Mark is a dark gift, forced onto the neck of Sasuke by Orochimaru. It’s a form of control, which affords Sasuke access to a powerful transformation but is intended to expunge his mind and facilitate Orochimaru’s possession of his body. (You’d have to already know what I’m talking about to know what I’m talking about).
I guess I should explain though. The Curse Mark, and the characters mentioned above, come from the cartoon, Naruto, which is frivolous and enjoyable and I decided to base a design on it.
I did this with the old solid-point and found working within the interior of the box to be particularly tricky. It was very hard to get into the corners and right angles and, because the entire end of the iron heats up, any part above the handle which inadvertently touches the wood leaves a burn.
That said, I like the seal underneath, the glyph writing, and the curse energy inside. I think I’ll get another box and do something different with it next time.
The box measures 4 by 3 by 3 inches, and has been finished with varnish. It is currently available on our Etsy shop. Any more I make will be different to this one, as I prefer to individualise the things I scorch.
