Don’t touch the precious things!
Thanks Tubs, but it’s not really just for local people. The Oriel Bach Gallery in Mumbles, that’s in Wales, near Swansea, is a small gallery in the town centre. It occupies the shop front of the Mumbles Development Trust office and was originally a space for three students to display their work as part of their degree.
The Development Trust thought this was a great idea and a good use of the extra space they had, so they suggested the students turn it into a permanent gallery, and it now exhibits and sells art by established and emerging artists alike.
Recently I joined an art class in Ystradgynlais – a great bunch of crazy-ladies with awesome artistic talent – and they asked if I would be part of it, as they really liked my pyrography, and wondered if I’d be able to fill in last Friday at the gallery. Rather than let it shut for the day I said no worries and got myself down there.
Although I didn’t sell anything it was still a really good experience. I had some interest in my stuff and it was great to have them exhibited in a gallery.
